Sustainable Recreation

Group Description:

The Arizona Sustainable Recreation Strategy process is a landscape-level, collaborative approach to strengthening and developing sustainable recreation opportunities across the Sky Islands region and greater Arizona.

Sustainable Recreation, originally initiated by the US Forest Service, seeks to foster an "all hands, all lands" approach to recreation, where stakeholders work together, across jurisdictional boundaries, toward a common vision, shared goals, and implementation of shared priorities.

This approach is being pursued in and around the National Forests in Arizona and New Mexico (and beyond). The Southeast Arizona process was launched during two public workshops in October 2014.
